Subic and Barrio Barretto Nightlife Guide 2026: Bars, Beach Bars and How to Get There

Subic is two different nights out ten minutes apart. The Subic Bay Freeport, the old US Navy base, has waterfront sports bars, live-band bars, smokehouses and very strict rules. Barrio Barretto, just up the coast in Olongapo, has the bar strip on the National Highway and the beach resorts of Baloy Long Beach. This guide lists 16 places across both, with addresses, hours, contacts and a map, plus how to get there from Manila and Angeles City. Checked September 2026.
Which area is for you?
The Freeport: waterfront bars on Waterfront Road and Moonbay Marina, hotel rooftops and smokehouses. Families, couples and anyone who wants quiet streets and strict order.
Barrio Barretto: the bar strip along the National Highway, cheaper beer and a later night. The strip also has go-go bars (18+), which we don’t list.
Baloy Long Beach: resorts right on the sand, floating bars and water sports, a short tricycle ride from the strip.

Barrio Barretto and Baloy Long Beach

Subic Bay Freeport
Most of these are on or just off Waterfront Road, Dewey Avenue and Rizal Highway, a short taxi hop apart.

What it costs
Beer on the Barretto strip was around US$1.60 to $2.00 (roughly ₱90 to ₱115) in 2025 reports. Freeport bars and hotel rooftops charge more.
A night at a Freeport sports bar: plan on about ₱1,000 to ₱1,500 a head with food.
Magic Lagoon (catch and grill your own fish): ₱100 entry with rod, tilapia ₱150 a kilo, bangus ₱250 a kilo, ₱100 grilling (August 2026).
Resorts on Baloy set their own day-use fees; there is no single beach entrance fee.
Getting there
From Manila: Victory Liner from its Cubao terminal (683 EDSA) to Olongapo takes about 3 hours: about ₱320 regular air-con or ₱401 express (2026 listings). Published schedules disagree, so check before you go. Driving: NLEX, then SCTEX to the Tipo exit.
From Angeles City: Victory Liner from the Dau terminal runs hourly, 24 hours, for about ₱200. UV Express vans at the Dau terminal entrance cost about ₱160.
From Clark airport: Victory Liner leaves from the Terminal 2 bus station, about ₱258 and 1.5 hours, around 12 trips a day between 2am and 10pm. Grab from Clark to Subic is unreliable; a private car costs about ₱5,000 one way.
Getting around: there are no jeepneys inside the Freeport. Taxis may not use a meter, so agree the fare before you get in. Grab works in the zone and the central area is walkable. In Barretto, tricycles cost about ₱50 to ₱150 and jeepneys ₱15 to ₱25; agree tricycle fares to Baloy first.

Where to stay
Barretto to walk to the bars: Mango’s Beachfront Resort is on the National Highway and on the water.
Baloy Long Beach for a beach stay: Treasure Island Resort has the pool and the floating bar.
The Freeport for a quiet, orderly base: Subic Bay Yacht Club, ibis Styles Subic, The Lighthouse Marina Resort or Best Western Plus (home of Viktor Brew + Bar).

Rules and safety
The Freeport enforces its traffic rules strictly: full stop at every intersection, no driving after drinking, no headphones while driving, seatbelts on, no parking on yellow curbs. Obey the traffic officers.
Olongapo bans smoking, e-cigarettes and shisha in enclosed and public places, with fines of ₱500, ₱1,000 and then ₱2,500. Drinking inside a vehicle in a public place is also fined.
Don’t drink on the street. Central Luzon police have been ticketing public drinking under the Safer Cities programme since April 2026.
Agree tricycle and taxi fares first, watch your drink, and check your bill; one Baloy resort has billing complaints in its reviews.

Ocean Adventure: ₱850 adults, ₱680 children 12 and under, 9am to 5pm daily (official prices).
Zoobic Safari: about ₱895 adults and ₱795 children, 8am to 4pm, last entry 2pm.
Tree Top Adventure: packages from about ₱400 to ₱1,120 a person.
Wreck diving: the USS New York, El Capitan and San Quentin wrecks, with dive shops at Moonbay Marina.
